| I was also assigned to do the final impact shot of the two knights colliding. At this point the knights were rigged and had been used in other scenes so all I had to do was align and further animate. So all left to do was the impact of the good knight being struck by the black knight’s lance. In order to dramatise the impact sequence, I decided to have the lance break and splinter as well as the good knight being exploded off from his horse. I animated this sequence via keyframes for precision which helped my move the body of the good knight in response to the lance tip hitting him. Once complete, I added a twist so that the good knight's legs fly up in the air - this most definitely improved the impact feeling. Along with the camera shake, I added a particle system that only lasted for a very short period of time to express splintering as the lance snapped in half. |
